About 3 weeks ago we scored 3 malting old hens (aka. ‘chooks’ in this land of milk and honey). So far they have neither been eaten by foxes nor laid a single egg. They are, however, doing a tremendous job clearing the 12 inches of leaf litter, bark and sticks layering the floor of their pen. Good looking chooks. Hopefully the will start laying in another 3 or 4 weeks. I can’t wait…
