IPA.
For those whom aren’t in the know, IPA stands India Pale Ale. It was born from the days when India was a colony ruled by the English, and, like all ruling men, the poms required a tasty beverage after a hard days ruling. However, the rough oceans and extreme temperature changes experienced on a ships voyage from the motherland to India saw many a brew spoiled. So some genius thought, “lets up the alcohol and hopping rates!” (‘cos the alpha acids extracted from the hops which give it a bitter taste, and the alcohol from the fermented sugar, both work to preserve the beer… derr).
So was created a deliciously hoppy and alcoholic beer thats style is prolifically recreated constantly. And not just by the poms. The yanks do a tremendous job of it too.
